Off to New York City for some meetings and the NY Times Travel Show and to experience this ‘polar vortex’ for myself! I’m ready for some cold weather – bring it on! And, I was able to secure this: a ticket to a Late Show with David Letterman taping. Awesome!

We enjoyed a VERY successful series of events and meetings with some of our favorite travel wholesalers and travel agents in Southern California. It was fantastic meeting with old friends and new colleagues, and discussing the Cook Islands, Fiji and Samoa.  The first day of the Long Beach Adventure Travel Show was also a great success, as there were many attendees showing lots of enthusiasm for travel to the islands of the South Pacific. It was great seeing you all, and I will be back in Southern California very soon.

We are staying very busy at Creative Resort Marketing. Our travel plans for the next several weeks will bring us to: Portland – 16-18 JanuaryLos Angeles – 23-24 JanuaryLos Angeles/Long Beach/Orange County/San Diego – 5-8 FebruaryLong Beach Adventure Travel Show – 8 FebruaryNew York – 26 February – 1 MarchNew York Times Travel Show – 28 February – 1 MarchFiji Tourism Expo, Nadi Fiji – 5-8 May In the first half of 2014, we will also be visiting Seattle, Vancouver, Toronto, Montreal, and more. Plans are also being made for a visit to the UK and throughout Europe, as well as visits to the islands of the South Pacific. We hope to see you in your city very soon!

I just returned from a quick trip to Fiji to visit Crusoe’s Retreat, where we hosted our annual Marketing Conference.  The weather could not have been nicer!  Gorgeous warm days, with cool evenings – just perfect.  We were lucky to have one free day, where the Crusoe’s team enjoyed a day out on the Sigatoka Off-Road Cave Safari. Crusoe’s looks fantastic!  The bures are all fresh, the grounds are so well manicured, and the staff are lovely as ever! My favorite addition to Crusoe’s? The new Day Beds on the verandah of the Deluxe SeaSide Bures!

There’s something truly magical about waking up early on your first morning in Fiji. Strolling the lush gardens. Walking the deserted beach. The only sounds you hear are the sing song melodies of the birds, and the gently lapping waves upon the sand. I’m home again – back in Fiji. My visit to Fiji and Crusoe’s Retreat is a brief one, as I’m here for some meetings and the annual BFTE conference, but any visit to Crusoe’s is special. My priority list is short: spend some time with the great local Fijian staff, grab a kayak and see Crusoe’s from a unique perspective, and relax with a cocktail at Coco’s Bar at Happy Hour and enjoy another breathtaking Fijian sunset.

I have just returned from an exhausting but incredibly successful two weeks in Europe. The South Pacific Tourism Organization sponsored a roadshow throughout Europe, visiting the amazing cities of Paris, Munich, Hamburg, Amsterdam and Berlin.  Several hundred travel agents in these cities attended our South Pacific presentation, where I was honored to present Royale Takitumu, Palm Grove, Crusoe’s Retreat, and Coconuts Beach Club.  It was so nice seeing all of these agents come out to learn about our South Pacific paradise.  These European cities are beautiful, and these agents are very fortunate to live in such gorgeous cities – however, we were very proud to present the stunning islands of the South Pacific, which really did take their breath away.  After the Roadshow, I was lucky to spend one day at ITB in Berlin – the world’s largest travel show, with over 10,000 different exhibitors in attendance. While it was a long and very…

After a week in Auckland, it’s always nice to have a little down time in Fiji. Too bad all of my business trips can’t be like this. My first stop was Crusoe’s Retreat, where I had the opportunity to catch up with our wonderful resort managers, spend some time with our friendly local Fijian staff, and see all the amazing improvements happening at the resort. Crusoe’s looks great, and the many guests we had staying with us were having a blast! After a couple days at Crusoe’s, I hopped on a ferry at Port Denarau and visited the Mamanuca Islands.  After 25+ visits to Fiji, this was the first time I have ever taken a ferry in Fiji. It was great – very relaxing, and an opportunity to see some of these beautiful islands. I was attending a Fiji Matai Agent conference, where Fiji Specialist travel agents from North America and…

Bula Fiji – it’s always great to see you! I attended another very successful Bula Fiji Tourism Exchange conference in Fiji this past week. This was a fantastic opportunity to catch up with some old friends, meet new friends and colleagues, and show off some of the amazing highlights of Crusoe’s Retreat to the travel industry. While the conference took place on Denarau Island in Nadi, I was very lucky to have a couple days to sneak down to Crusoe’s Retreat to check on the resort. It was great seeing the property, our amazing staff, and spending some time with very happy guests.  The conference went very well, and it was an amazing week in Fiji. After the conference, I was so very fortunate to be able to spend a couple of days on one of my favorite Fiji islands – Taveuni. There is good reason why it is known as Fiji’s…
